Play Baccarat Online – Baccarat Rules

Central to this game is whether a points total for the Player's Hand or Banker's Hand is higher (or tied). You get to choose which hand you bet on or whether you bet on a tie – so the 'Player / Banker' distinction is more part of the traditional labels of the game than defining your hand and the houses' hand. Deciding how many points each hand is worth is a little complicated, fortunately the casino will total this up for you. We go through it here for background information. First you add the scores of the cards together, with aces worth 1 and picture cards 10. If the total is 10 or more then you simply remove the 10 – for example if you get a king and four then the total of 14 becomes 4 (exactly 10 equals zero).

More cards are added to both the players and bankers hands as in the following rules:

• Firstly, if either the Player or Banker hands add up to 8 or 9 no more cards are dealt and the current scores determine the winner.
• The Player hand then draws a card for a total of 0 to 5 and stands with a 6 or 7
• Next the Banker hand draws cards depending on the outcome of the players hand and draw (this is the bit that appears complicated, but is handled by the casino software)
• Player Stands a Banker Stands with 6 or 7 and Draws With 5 Or Below
• Player Drew 2 or 3 a Banker Stands With 5 to 7 and Draws With 4 Or Below
• Player Drew 4 or 5 a Banker Stands with 6 or 7 and Draws With 5 Or Below
• Player Drew 6 or 7 a Banker Stands With 7 and Draws With 6 Or Below
• Player Drew 8 a Banker Stands With 3+ and Draws With 2 Or Below
• Player Drew 9, 10, Picture or Ace a Banker Stands With 4+ and Draws With 3 Or Below

Payouts are then made to 'Player' bets at 1-to-1, Banker Bets at 1-to-0.95 (the Banker will win a little more often with the above rules, so this is not necessarily a 'worse' bet). The tie is paid out at 9-to-1.
