While Caribbean Stud is often played by many people at the same time, each player is effectively playing against the house in the form of the dealer's hand. Caribbean Stud Poker Rules – Overview Of A Hand

Before the cards are dealt each player places a bet in the form of an 'ante' into the smaller of two circles in front of each seat. Players are then dealt 5 cards face down, while the dealer is also dealt 5 cards – 4 of the dealers cards are face down and 1 is visible to all the players.

Each player then decides whether to play their hand or fold. Playing a hand requires that a bet double the size of the ante is placed in the larger 'Raise' circle, while folding the hand at this point loses the ante bet which the dealer will remove.

Once every player has made their choice the dealer shows their entire hand. If the dealers hand contains Ace-King high or better this is said to qualify and will be compared to the hands of the players one-by-one. If the dealers hand is worse than Ace-King high it does not play, in which case raises are returned and each player receives 1-to-1 on their ante bet.

Where a players hand beats the dealers (qualified) holding payouts on the raise are paid according to the strength of the players hand according to the following chart:

• Royal Flush: 100-to-1
• Straight Flush: 50-to-1
• 4 Of A Kind: 20-to-1
• Full House: 7-to-1
• Flush: 5-to-1
• Straight: 4-to-1
• 3 Of A Kind: 3-to-1
• 2 Pair: 2-to-1
• One Pair or Less: 1-to-1
